We’re really liking the look and feel of this second-floor loft at 110 Clifton Place. The two-bedroom space in a former ping pong factory has high ceilings and an open layout, like you’d hope, but also two real bedrooms. The monthly maintenance on the 1,162-Square-foot apartment is reasonable at $844, and the asking price of $650,000 comes in at a little over $500 a foot. We bet this sells fairly quickly for around $620,000. Thoughts?

  1. Heather,

I keep hearing good things about 56 but never, never from a parent who sends his/her kid there. When my daughter (now 14) was in elementary school we were zoned for 56 and some of our neighbors’ kids–my daughter’s friends–went there. i didn’t like what I was hearing from these kids about their school work.

Joyce Szuflita (http://nycschoolhelp.com) liked 56 though and she’s pretty smart.

  2. Delepp, at that location, I’d say no. $2500-2600, probably.

Public schools nearby… there’s a charter school, and mostly, no. If it was in PS 20, 11 or even 56 zone, I’d think the odds would be better?

  3. The carrying costs here would be about $3100 a month, no? assuming 10% down. How much would one need to make to get a 30 year bank mortgage? $110,000 a year? So one needs to be gainfully employed but not a high high earner. Are there good public schools nearby? That’s more important than nearby sandwich shops.
