Co-op of the Day: 422 State Street, #9
Apartment #9 at 422 State Street in Boerum Hill is either a slightly scrunched two-bedroom or quite a generous one-bedroom, depending on where you stand. At $734 a month, the maintenance is about right. The recently renovated kitchen is somewhat unusual but appears to work well for the space. Asking price: $499,000. Reactions?

I used to live at 410 State. That street can be very loud at night, there is a lot of foot traffic from the subways and halfway houses and treatment centers on the surrounding blocks. If the apartment is in the front or on a low floor it should cost lower than other similar units in the building.
ok, ok, I walk slowly what can i tell ya! even to the a/c or 2/3 stop! i was thinking about the trains near LIRR/Atlantic ave stop
According to Streeteasy, Apt 20 went for $565k.
I recognize this layout. Typical of teens buildings — about 1911, 1912 or so. They were built as flexible one/two bedrooms with French doors separating the common area from the “extra” room that could be used as a living room or a bedroom. Very very common in what were some of the earliest apartment buildings constructed in the outer boroughs. I think it’s lovely for a single parent and child or a single person who might occasionally want a roommate.
yeah, really 15-20 minute walk? on crutches maybe.
Snark, I was thinkin’ the same thing, but not in those words!
Oohala,
15-20 minute walktot train? You have the A or C one block away, 2-3 two blocks away and Dekalb is at most 5 minutes.
A 15-20 minute walk to the train?
Are you a Galapagos tortoise?
This is an elevator building (albeit a VERY small elevator, will probably not fit your bed/couch/dresser/ etc) so your movers will be doing the stairs…
This is probably a divided one bedroom but still looks like a two bdrms with decent size rooms.
This building is right across the street from the fire station and stradles atlantic ave and state st. it is one block from bond and nevins. good 15-20 minute walk to the nearest train and you’re pretty close to lovely downtown brooklyn and all those cheesy shops.
