What do you do when the process of building your Scarano-designed condo development so ruffles the feathers of the neighbors that they start a website whose sole mission is to document the poor quality and of your building and your own disgraceful conduct? Offer to pay buyers’ transfer taxes, that’s what. Well, first you send the neighbors a profanity-laced email, then you offer to pay the transfer taxes. So imagine for a minute that you didn’t mind lining the pockets of developers like this? What would you think of paying, say, $599,000 for 1,142 square feet of mezzanine-heavy space?

South Slope Condo Feud Getting Pretty Ugly [Curbed]
are there any good residential buildings going up in brooklyn? any at all?
American contractors rely on loads of calk to “make up the difference”. 231 16th is no MoMa, but even Taniguchi had a hard time finding capable American contractors to pull off his design. Scarano’s building is sloppy…the synthetic stucco looks like the floor after a marathon Bukkake film festival. The iron work should have been stainless and not silver painted iron…at least request the use of cold rolled steel next time Bob. As for the new building across the street…Yikes! but at least a nicely built Yikes!
although Scarano is the architect, why is his company type cast along with the shitty behavior and workmanship of the developer/contractor.
I wish I was a lawyer so I could sue all the dumb asses in this F-kin city.
Lawyers are a bit pricey!
As I have posted before, total POS.
Regardless of my dislike for most Scarano designs (this is another “Mezzanine-gate” wanna be), the builder/developer (who is a total scumbag for what he did to his neighbors and our friends) really did a doozie on this one. Cheap ass windows and railings, sub par stucco job, crappy as entrance doors on the units and the building LEANS and LISTS on a twisting angle down the block. Makes you feel that you have had a few when you look at it from street level.
Perhaps you might want to have a few before going into contract with this one…
Buyer beware!
When you go to the opera, do you have to duck down because you have “Mezzanine” seats?
Just to clarify a “Mezzanine” is not a space w/ less than 7′-0″ Head Room.
Is Kas dilusional?? I live on the block and the building across the street is a welcome addition. I think it’s one of the more attractive new buildings in the slope unlike this gray p.o.s that we all know is having problems.. I’m curious to know what other from the hood think…
