This penthouse apartment at 70 Washington Street just hit the market with the not insignificant price tag of $2,800,000. It’s a killer apartment with private outdoor space and views of lower Manhattan so it’ll be interesting to see whether it can fetch the asking price with only 1,577 square feet of interior space; other high-floor units in the building without outdoor space are currently asking around $1,100 a foot. For what it’s worth, the apartment sold originally for $2,240,150 back in 2006.

  1. OK. If the price included 90 minute daily (good!) full-body massages, it would start to approach reasonable. That’s my personal “what it would take,” anyway….

I guess they are taking into account the low maintenance? But still! Man.

  2. Is this the most insane price we’ve ever seen on here? It’s approaching $2000 a foot. Good Lord.

(bao, I am often quite positive on here. But, yes, there is a negative, quippy tendency, for sure. This place’s price is asking for it tho…..)

  3. Crazily overpriced.

Dock St. development will be 17 stories and will cover the area between Dock, Water and Front Streets. This apartment will lose some view of the Bridge, but if they’re lucky, the view of the Verizon building will be blocked.

  4. I think DH is right. This one may have an obstruction to its view in the near future.

But even if that WEREN’T the case, is someone over at Halstead smoking crack? Nearly 3 million for a one bedroom 15 hundred square foot place with ‘killer’ views? I can’t imagine who’s going to pull the trigger on that one. There are currently several 33 hundred square foot, FOUR bedroom places with equally amazing views (I’d say better, actually) at One Hanson that are having trouble finding buyers for less than that.

    I don’t get this pricing.
