Condo of the Day: 84 Front Street, #9D
This 952-square-foot two-bedroom at 84 Front Street in Dumbo just hit the market this past weekend. It’s quite a nice apartment but the asking price of $1,050,000 seems rather pricey, even when you throw in the 750-square-foot private terrace. Apartments in this building tend to sell for somewhere in the range of $850 a foot….

“Nomi and STARGAZER, take a look at the 166 Montague thread from yesterday.Same horrific “living room” layout, tiny living room, basically requires you to push the back of the sofa up against the kitchen island. And yet people are paying $1.6 – $1.7 MILLION to buy those apartments. ” (CGar)
Wow. No kidding. I don’t get it. I really don’t get it.
I think extending the living room into that 2d bedroom by removing as much wall as possible would make this a nice place. The outdoor space is lovely. The building is average, though. No panache at this address, other than the fact that it’s expensive. Agree also that the 2d bath should be converted to 1/2 bath with full-size laundry. Possibilities, but not for $1.050.
but then again hip hop started out in the projects… so it’s all relative 😉

i sh*t you not, but when i lived in projects in high school in jersey (it was new construction) we had the living room in the dining room thing in the kitchen, etc one room set up) cuz that’s when it started out i guess. btw, this one room set up started out as efficiency apartments for newer low rise projects buildings.. anyway, my grandmother had the “bingo table” when lots of people came over. it was a giant metal table that folded open. you just plop it in the living room. you gotta laugh at people paying millions of bucks to live like the live in the projects in jersey circa 1991.

to have a roof terrace like that is very rare. and huge too. Hard to say how much extra someone willing to pay for it.
> What if you wanted to play a game of cards with 4 people…
This apartment is strictly for solitaire players.
Love the terrace though. Too bad it’s in Dumbo.

This is funny.
… not to mention the noise factor from the trains going over the Manhattan Bridge.
Nomi and STARGAZER, take a look at the 166 Montague thread from yesterday. Same horrific “living room” layout, tiny living room, basically requires you to push the back of the sofa up against the kitchen island. And yet people are paying $1.6 – $1.7 MILLION to buy those apartments. So architects/designers keep on designing them like this because people keeping paying millions of dollars for these layouts. Don’t ask me why. I won’t do it.
