The obvious bummer about this one-bedroom condo at 110 Livingston Street in Downtown Brooklyn is the single, window-guarded window in the living room. And while the 16-foot ceilings do partially make up for that short-coming, the apartment’s just not as sweet, in our opinion, as the ones upstairs, despite having all the same (very nice) finishes. And with the asking price of $550,000, the seller’s also trying to get a 10 percent mark-up on what he paid in 2007, something we can’t really see a reason for given the current market.

  1. Every apartment looks exactly like this — only this one is VERY small! There’s no place to eat except at the stools to the kitchen. It’s really fro a single — a step up from a studio…

  2. “Instantly gives feeling it should have padded walls and a straight jacket in the closet.”

Appropriate, given the building’s former use. Living in the old Board of Education would creep me the hell out.

  3. Maybe it’s me, but I like this place. I can’t believe because a place modern, painted white with black finishes that it’s getting a thumbs down. It’s downtown and appeals to downtowners.

  4. well i personally like windows and openness too, but im just saying there are some people who are turned off by that. i could definitely see this apartment being bought by some goth or wannabe vampire chick’s parents for her or something and then she paints it all black and it’s featured in the new barf times.

  5. I bet they get their price.

All the resales in this building (and there have been more than a few post-Lehman) have posted very strong numbers.

I don’t think anyone’s made a killing, but I believe every resale has sold for a higher amount than the original purchase price.

That’s not bad in this market.

  6. > do you people just sit and look out your windows all day or something!?

It’s not even about the views, but about light and a feeling of openness. This is certainly not important to everybody, but it is to me. It was one of the key things that attracted me to my current place.
