This isn’t an overly spacious apartment, but it does have some built-in storage, wood floors, picture rails, and an updated kitchen. The photogenic unit is in the elevator building at 125 Prospect Park West, which sits directly across from Prospect Park and within the Park Slope Historic District.
Plans for the brick and limestone corner building were filed in 1916 by owner Richard Bridgette with the design by architect Henry Moore. Early ads and articles show the building was known as the Hillhurst Apartments. A blurb in 1918 boasted it was “the finest building of its kind in the borough” with 36 apartments and a long waiting list.
This unit has a small foyer, with room for a bench or storage, opening into the living room. The kitchen is on one side of the living room and the bedroom and bathroom on the other. There are wood floors through the main spaces as well as white trim.
In the living room, French doors on either side of the window provide access to built-in storage. This room also has two closets.
There is a view into the kitchen, which has a wall of cherry-adorned wallpaper adding a hint of color in a mostly white room. There are white cabinets, marble counters, and some open shelving in the windowed space. The appliances do not include a dishwasher.
In the bedroom, there are two exposures. The built-in storage includes two closets.
The full bath has white fixtures, including a vanity with storage space and white subway tiles on the wall.
According to the listing, the unit comes with its own storage space in the building. There is also a laundry room, bike parking, and a live-in super. Monthly maintenance for this unit is $1,075 a month.
This unit last sold in 2017 for $630,000. Joe Ryan, Maria Ryann, Libby Ryan, and Luther Hines of Compass’ Ryan + Ryan Team have the listing and it is priced at $799,000. What do you think?
