In a building that was once a hotel, this one-bedroom prewar has one floor plan quirk that won’t work for everyone but offers space, vintage charm and a desirable Crown Heights location.

It’s located on the penultimate floor of 345 Montgomery Street, a six-story elevator building that opened in 1929. Designed by architects Berlinger & Kaufmann and dubbed The Dearborn, the brown brick building has a grand entrance with big columns and a colorful lobby with terrazzo floor and faux marbled walls.

The unit’s perks include a proper foyer, three closets, a dishwasher and low monthly charges. The foyer is big enough for a table, storage and bench; likewise the living room and bedroom are also large.

Charming prewar details include parquet floors, an arched doorway and coved ceilings. The kitchen and bathroom have both been updated, although not particularly recently, and appear in good condition. A breakfast nook at one end of the kitchen could also work as office space.

One oddity of the apartment, perhaps dating from its days as a hotel, is that the bathroom is directly across from the front door.

Electricity is included in the maintenance, which is low at $534 a month. The building has shared laundry, and additional storage and bike storage are available for a fee.

Listed by Hakim Edwards of Compass, the apartment is asking $499,000. What do you think?
