Carroll Gardens Atrocity Finally Gets Price Cut
The Carroll Gardens Atrocity, what Pardon Me For Asking describes as the “poster child for what-not-to-do with a brownstone,” has finally gotten a much needed price reduction after more than two years of languishing on the market. The upper duplex is now $1,295,000, down from $1,495,000 and the entire house can be had for $2,590,000…

sam- you can always skip over his posts.
vines would help. Maybe add some architectural detailing to make it a little more consistent with the house?
cover that addition with vines. could work depending on the cladding.
wow- there’s a concept, sam. I’m filing it with the other imagery- the hunchback of Notre Dame, buffaloes humping deer,a black hole enveloping earth, various references to buildings doing interesting sex acts 🙂
By the way Rob, I know you have become a popular poster here, but your clueless adolescent schtick is getting on my nerves.
This is a hard sell. People who love old houses do not want to move in to somethig that has been re-muddled to the extent that it is now known far and wide as “the atrocity”. On the other hand people who don’t care about old houses would probably prefer a brand-new building with no stoop and a garage. The location is prime so perhaps that will trump all else. I think one could improve this for a couple of hundred thou, at least to the extent it would no longer be “the atrocity” building.
By the way, these images are flattering. In real life the blocky addition rises out of the top of the house like an alien life form ripping through the cranium of an unlucky astronaut in any one of many Sigourney Weaver movies.
I can see where someone like Rob, who obv hasn’t been following this long and sad story, could wonder whats wrong here. The perspective in the righthand foto makes it look like the addition is an entirely seperate building in the bkground.
I actually don’t think this is such an atrocity. I’m being serious. That siad, I haven’t seen floorplans and that kitchen pic looks pretty low end but that’s a different discussion.
From the front it’s still a beauty. i suspect its the people living on the side street that are having the problems. But once I pull my car into the garage, that’s gone!!!
Where are our srchitecture buffs? I need someone to define for me what a “bidet” window is. LOL
Only a drop in the bucket! We need to go much much lower until ir starts to draw attention. The stupid era is over!
what atrocity? im confused, what are we supposed to be looking at? that installed bidet window?
