Greenpoint has been rezoned for residential housing, and now Herb Engler, owner of Penn State Fabricators, has until October 16 to vacate his Newton Street address, where his shop has stood for over 35 years. About 6 weeks ago, the New York City Department of Small Business Services announced that the $1.4 million was available to help businesses like his relocate, but according to the Brooklyn Downtown Star, “the agency has yet to explicitly spell out to the satisfaction of a business owner like Engler, at least what the Greenpoint-Williamsburg Relocation Program (GWRP) will reimburse.” Before Engler spends as much as $50,000 on his upcoming move, he would like to know exactly how much he will be reimbursed.
