Brooklyn Open Houses

Our open house picks from six months ago were a Labor Day weekend batch that only included three homes, seeing as the holiday tends to rouse more interest in the dwindling summer weather than in real estate.

Of these, two have sold, but all are off the market.

One of the picks that sold was one of two gut-renovated properties on Eldert Street in Bushwick. An aluminum-sided number at 249 Eldert offered double 1,800-square-foot duplexes, one of them an owner’s duplex with three bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths and a deck with stairs down to the backyard. The property got $8,500 below its $1.299 million ask, selling for $1.2905 million in January.

Up the block is No. 275, the other Eldert Street property, a three-story brick townhouse with a two-bedroom apartment on top and a two-bedroom duplex below with a large “recreation room” in the basement and access to a fenced-in garden. Originally on the market via Corcoran, 275 Eldert Street has been listed and taken down multiple times by multiple agencies, most recently by Keller Williams. According to the broker, the property sold just this week in a cash deal for ask exactly. The buyer? None other than Giorgio DeLuca of Dean & DeLuca fame. The sale has not yet hit public records.

Last up, on St. Marks Avenue in Crown Heights, a newly built home with a double duplex plus a finished basement was taken off the market in November. It was last listed for $899,000, down $96,000 from its original $995,000 ask. Each of the property’s duplexes has three bedrooms and an outdoor space — a garden for the bottom unit, a roof deck for the upper one.
