That PLG house isn’t nearly as fanciful as the Historic District houses, which only go for slightly more. What’s up with the small kitchen? The buyers paid a serious premium for that house. Hope they’re planning on staying there for life!
ok does that mean the NY STYLE pizza I can buy on Cape Cod is *real* new york pizza?
fuggggetaboutit
And a dictionary. I’m correct, everyone else is repeating the same BS about houses in Cape Cod. You think Italianate brownstones are as nice-looking as palazzos? A style is a style, whether its done to your liking or not.
You need a better name.
Frederick Law Homestead is correct about the size of the PLG HD. It includes the 600 homes in Lefferts Manor plus a few hundred more on Lefferts Ave. and Sterling St., bet. Bedford b& Nostrand (although I wouldn’t call these a mere “buffer zone”). 900 or so houses isn’t THAT small an historic district. We tried to make it larger back in the ’70s, but, knowing of Ft.Greene’s problems a little earlier, were resigned to settling for whatever we could get. The establishment of the Ocean-on-the-Park HD added one strip that we wanted to include years ago (albeit as a separate HD, which is fine). I hope there’ll be more additions (or additional HDs in PLG) in coming years. Chester Court and Parkside Ave., west of Bedford, come to mind but are by no means the only additional blocks that should be landmarked.
joey, you need an eye exam.
A Cape Cod cottage is a style of house originating in New England in the 17th century. It is traditionally characterized by a low, broad frame building, generally a story and a half high, with a steep, perfectly pitched roof with end gables, a large central chimney and very little ornamentation.
As unpretentious as I am I would never live in Gerristen Beach unless it was on the very edge of the hood near Ave V. These damp wooden houses all smell like mold.
And that is a Cape Cod style house.
> There are inbred people in Maine too – Jonesport-Beals specifically.
I was up in Jonesport years ago. The accent sounded straight outta Kentucky. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
