Brooklyn Open Houses -- Brooklyn Heights, Bushwick

This week’s top real estate listings are in favor of Brooklyn houses listed for under a million dollars — which aren’t easy to come by.

Which would you choose?

10. This two-bedroom, two-bath condo at 111 Steuben Street in Clinton Hill has an open layout with floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the space. The kitchen has plenty of storage and counter space that leads into a large open plan dining and living room, and both bedrooms are very large. The master bedroom features an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. The second full bathroom has a soaking tub. The unit also comes with washer and dryer hook-ups.

9. This two-unit townhouse was recently gut renovated with all new finishes. The kitchen looks great and so does the parlor-floor bath. There’s even a deck off the back overlooking a paved garden.

8. Just a three-minute stroll from the Chauncey Street J/Z station and a few blocks from the Bushwcick-Aberdeen L, this recently renovated townhouse has three bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms in the upper duplex, plus a one-bedroom basement apartment. Based on the photos, it looks like this home is truly move-in ready.

7. Just a short walk to Prospect Park, this single-family house probably has a lot of potential. However, the lack of interior photos and the ultra-low price tag might raise a red flag or two. But if you’re in the mood for an adventurous renovation, you might do well to investigate this 1,500-square-foot three-bedroom. The location is pretty good.

6. Last week’s No. 2, Brooklyn’s most expensive townhouse listing — ever — drops down a few spots. The semi-attached Italianate brownstone, built in 1857, was famously home to Seth Low II, who served as mayor of Brooklyn in the 1880s, and later, mayor of New York. Perched on a cliff, it overlooks the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and Brooklyn Bridge Park, with views of the East River, Statue of Liberty and Manhattan.

5. This two-family brick townhouse in Bushwick looks to be in move-in condition and a relative bargain (these days). It’s set up with an owner’s duplex and a rental unit. The location, at the end of a dead-end street across from a graveyard, a couple blocks from the overhead trains at Broadway Junction, at the very end of Bushwick, might explain the attractive price. And hey, at least no one can say it’s not close to the L train.

4. This cute shingled townhouse has three bedrooms and two baths with a full-floor rec room on the lower level leading out to the backyard. The home is also just two blocks from Owl’s Head Park. The kitchen could use some updates, but overall it’s a sweet find.

3. On State Street in Brooklyn Heights we’ve got a four-story brownstone, which offers a five-bedroom triplex over a one-bedroom garden rental. The home was once one of several on the block belonging to the same landlord who owns the Heights’ biggest eyesore, the neglected home at 100 Clark Street. It changed hands years back, though, and has been recently renovated.

2. This one’s an unusual property with an appealing modern facade and a hallway clad in corrugated metal. A rare Kensington townhouse listing, on East 9th Street, it contains two apartments on each floor, as well as a pair of sub-level office spaces. Worth noting is that one of the apartments has what may be the narrowest bedroom we’ve ever seen, at 5.75 feet wide.

1. On Prospect Place in Prospect Heights is an Italianate brick house that’s on the market for the first time in over 50 years. It’s got some original detail, including moldings and fireplace mantels, but may need some updating, going by the photos. Dating back to 1872, according to the listing, it’s landmarked, sitting within the Prospect Heights Historic District.
