This week, a look back at four of our featured listings from six months ago focuses on homes in Ditmas Park West, Bay Ridge, East Flatbush, and Prospect Park South. How did they fare?
In Ditmas Park West, quirky ogee arches contrast with World War II-era scientific design in a two-bedroom co-op. It’s on the fourth floor of The Collingswood at 385 Argyle Road, a six-story, 60-unit elevator building that opened in 1941. This former Co-op of the Day sold in April for $885,000, which was $86,000 over the asking price.
On a one-block street in Bay Ridge, this row house was part of a 1920s development that turned former estate land into tidy rows of single-family tapestry brick houses with garages. It has been converted to a two-family, but 7023 Ridge Crest Terrace still has some period details like wood floors, picture rails, and wall moldings as well as potential for the buyer who can see the possibilities. This former House of the Day sold in May for $1.035 million, which was $44,000 under the asking price.
In East Flatbush, while a new owner will want to make some updates such as removing carpeting, this early 20th century row house has some nice interior details and, at least going by the photos available, looks to be in decent repair. The 20-foot-wide brick house at 373 East 29th Street is one of a row constructed as two-family dwellings around 1905. This former House of the Day was taken off the market in May.
In Prospect Park South, a 1902 shingled standalone on a corner lot has room to spare, original details, and a two-car garage. Owned by the publisher of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle in the house’s early years, it’s big enough to contain two very large apartments, and was divided into a two-family in 1942. This former Open House Pick was taken off the market in March.
