Four Houses to See on the Penultimate Summer Weekend, Starting at $469K

Those looking to spend the last weekend of the month house hunting have a number of potential destinations. Here are four of them, in Bed Stuy, Bushwick, Gravesend and Flatlands.

When the final days of August are winding down and Labor Day looms things get undeniably slow in the open house division. The wheels of commerce continue to turn, though, however slowly, and those looking to spend the last weekend of the month house hunting have a number of potential destinations. Here are four of them, in Bed Stuy, Bushwick, Gravesend and Flatlands.

First up is Bed Stuy, and a three-family, four-story brownstone on Putnam Avenue. It’s a narrow one, a scant 15 feet wide, with a two-bedroom unit on the top floor, a one-bedroom below that, and a three-bedroom duplex on the bottom. Any original detail or charm has been thoroughly scrubbed from this one, but it’s in move-in shape, according to the listing.

Next stop is East 12th Street in Gravesend, where we find a semi-detached single-family brick home with a front driveway and a garage. The only photo is an exterior shot and there’s no floor plan, but the listing informs us that there are three bedrooms, a modern kitchen, a formal dining room, a “huge summer porch,” a “nice back yard,” and a finished basement.

On Moffat Street in Bushwick there’s a three-story house with some original details, including woodwork, moldings, stained glass and mantels. It’s a two-family, with a three-bedroom rental on the top floor and a three-bedroom duplex below. The duplex needs some cosmetic work and a kitchen upgrade at the least. (Note the vintage Chambers stove in what looks to be good condition.) There’s a “semi-finished” basement.

Last on the itinerary is Flatlands, and a semi-detached one-family frame house on Avenue L. This one’s completely renovated, from the new siding and windows to the new planting bed and picket fence in the back yard. A two-story, it’s got three bedrooms, a single bath, an open-plan living space on the first floor, and a finished basement with a carpeted floor. It’s also got a driveway.
