The leaves are turning brown, and so are our open house picks. Which is to say we’ve got four brownstones for you this weekend — exemplars of that most classic Brooklyn form — in various states of repair. They’re found in Cobble Hill, Crown Heights and Bed Stuy.

First up, a freshly renovated four-story on Henry Street in Cobble Hill, this one not a mere brownstone but a “modern homage to the brownstone tradition.” Which is to say it’s been thoroughly updated with modern finishes, but retains some details including a marble mantel and the original staircase and balustrade (built by the house’s original owner “and his father,” the listing notes). At 21 feet wide, the house offers an owner’s triplex over a garden rental. The triplex has a marble-heavy walk-through kitchen, a rear living room, four bedrooms, a giant walk-in closet for the master, a laundry room and an office. There’s multi-zone A/C, an alarm system, a lighting control system and a whopping price tag.

The next one, on Gates Avenue in Bed Stuy, is likewise a four-story, and likewise freshly renovated, with upgraded electrical and mechanicals, central air, an intercom system and built-in speakers. It retains a few mantels, but generally has a modern vibe, and is set up as a three-bedroom triplex over a garden rental that’s duplexed with a finished basement. The owner’s unit offers an open plan living space and a full floor master suite including a dressing room and a bath with a glass shower and a claw foot tub. There are several outdoor spaces, including a roof deck, a third-floor terrace, a parlor-floor deck and a backyard.

Not far off in Crown Heights, on Pacific Street, is yet another four-story brownstone, this one set up with four units, each with two bedrooms and a galley kitchen. One meaningful detail: they’re all occupied. The pictured spaces have a utilitarian look, but they’re renovated and there’s some exposed brick to warm things up a bit.

Last stop is MacDonough Street in Bed Stuy, where we find another four-story laid out with an apartment on each floor. This one presumably comes without tenants and can be refigured — in fact it’s going to have to be, as it’s a legal two-family. Layout tweaking aside, there’s work to be done here, though the exact scope is not clear. Not much is pictured and the listing is short on details, but it does mention seven decorative mantels and “some original detail.”
