This spacious Park Slope duplex sits a half-block from Prospect Park and has a private roof deck with skyline views — qualities which may not scream out in the midst of a “bomb cyclone,” but which will hold considerable appeal come spring. It’s at the top of a five-story brownstone at 573 5th Street — a walk-up, needless to say, and thus not for the weak of leg.
It offers quite a bit of space — some 1,300 square feet, according to the listing — though it’s not easily shareable. The listing calls it a 1.5 bedroom, the half-bedroom being an alcove off the living room, which would serve a lot better as an office nook.
One quirk to note: there’s no private entrance. The staircase is open to the floors below, and on top of that, the sole bathroom opens to the hallway.
It’s a nice space, though, with bay windows in the living room, a full dining room, parquet floors, a pair of mantels, decorative moldings and a stained glass skylight at the top of the stairway. The kitchen is cute but small — so small in fact that the refrigerator needs to be placed in the dining room — and has limited counter space.
On the plus side, the bedroom is quite large; on the minus side, it’s a bit light-starved, with two half-size windows. There’s a sun room off the roof deck, which could be a nice asset, but it’s not pictured, oddly. Neither is the deck, for that matter, though it’s reasonably spacious.
There’s a lot of closet space, and a washer and dryer in the basement, which is exclusively yours to use.
Listed by Marie Lee Parker of Corcoran, the unit wants $3,200 a month, heat and hot water included. Like it?
