This floor-through rental has a fair amount of space and some nice brownstone detailing, and is newly spruced up with no fee. It’s in a brownstone on a prime Prospect Heights block, at 381 Sterling Place, in the Prospect Heights Historic District.
The circa 1901 building was designed by prolific 19th and early 20th century Brooklyn architect Benjamin Dreisler.
The listing calls it both a two-bedroom and a 1.5 bedroom; by our reckoning, the bedroom count stands at one. There’s an alcove off the living room (separated by a wall in a floor plan we dug up, but not in the photos) that perhaps they’re counting as the half-bedroom. Short of walling it off, that’s a definite stretch, but it could serve as an office space.
There’s a large, undebatable bedroom in back, with a mantel and a pair of large windows which are alleged to offer “breathtaking” city views. There’s no door between it and the living room. Instead there’s a pass-through dressing room with the original marble sink and a wall of built-in cabinets.

The kitchen, under construction in the photos, by now is newly redone, according to the listing, with new cabinets, granite countertops and a dishwasher. It’s a tight space, that claustrophobic chefs may not favor.
