Designed by Axel Hedman and Magnus Dahlander, it’s at 259 Decatur Street — and it’s a home we’ve written about previously, both when it was a wreck up for sale in 2014 and when the Australian firm Dixon bought it and announced plans to restore it.

They completed their renovation a while ago, restoring spectacular details including mantels, built-in cabinets, a giant pier mirror, an entry bench, parquet floors, carved door frames and other woodwork. That original detail sits alongside high-end modern updates: a kitchen with a Bertazzoni range and not one but two wine refrigerators, a master bath with an 11-foot vanity and a walk-in shower, walk-in closets and radiant-heated en-suite baths for every bedroom, etc.

There’s a triple parlor with bay windows in the front and rear; the kitchen is on the garden level, along with a walk-in pantry and a front dining room. Then there are four large bedrooms on the top two floors, with four baths and piles of closet space.

There’s nearly 3,500 square feet of space in total.

Listed by Joshua Carney of Dixon, the house hit the rental market in March, with a price tag of $9,995 a month. That was a mite ambitious, it seems, and the place has seen several price cuts since then, most recently dropping at the beginning of August from $8,995 to the current price of $7,995 a month. It’ll be interesting to see what the house finally rents for — think they’ve hit the magic number? Like the place?
