  1. Sorry, didn’t see your posting until this afternoon. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to find rentals here. I bought my house here 35 years ago and really haven’t looked for anything since then. Let me know if you find anything and I wish you good luck in your search.

  2. Absolutely, Rob! I don’t want the property values to skyrocket around here (and I am a homeowner). I wouldn’t mind a few decent restaurants, just not the ones with the designer ground beef, etc. Also, I’m not hoping to see a bar open here anytime soon. It would be nice, though, to see a little more diversity on MY side of Eastern Parkway since it is really nice and I doubt that the crime level here is worse than some of the nabes that often mentioned here. Just reminding people that this nabe exists. In addition, we do have 2 full service banks on EP in the heart of Crown Hts, four if you include the two Banco Populars (Utica and Nostrand).

Since we seem to be less desirable, the prices here can be much more advantageous. Of course, we don’t have any hipster bars … or designer beef bacon cheeseburgers.

and that was the crux of my whole argument. good! and dont you want to keep it “cheap?” do you really want those kinds of bars and burgers to move and triple your rent? i guess it’s different for people who own tho, i mean duh of course they want their property to triple in value. i come from a renter perspective, a non snob perspective, and someone who isnt looking out to cash in on clueless idiots from middle america.

  4. morralkan- I’m also Jewish, more like a “cardiac Jew”- i feel it in my heart. But yest CHS is sort of forgotten but that’s because it seems so few from your nabe post here. MM and I are the squeaky wheels for CHN. Post more- we’d love to hear more about Crown Heights South. We already know there’s fantastic housing stock.

  5. You’re right, bxgrl, Crown Hts south is a bit different from CH north, but, on this site, we are all but forgotten, perhaps because of the large Lubavitcher population. While Jewish myself, I am totally secular. Still, I don’t have a problem living here and we have some really fine housing stock. Since we seem to be less desirable, the prices here can be much more advantageous. Of course, we don’t have any hipster bars … or designer beef bacon cheeseburgers.

  6. Good News for Brownstoner?

Damn. Just clear out the bodegas?! That White Flight of the 50’s and 60’s was roundtrip like a mofo!

(Or is this just a bullshit article based on only two listings? Guys, RE is dead. Commercial too. Okay, only 2/9 lives so far but the crash is malignant for the whole housing/residential thang.)
