A new affordable housing development is going up at 521 St. Marks Avenue in Crown Heights. Called the St. Marks Gardens, this project is going to be eight stories tall and include 38 affordable apartments. There already is a St. Marks Garden Apts further down St. Marks, between NY and Brooklyn. It was built in the 1920’s, and is a wonderful and huge neo-Tudor pile with a great courtyard and lobby. Also huge pre-war apartments. That said, any affordable developments in Crown Heights are certainly welcome.
