Crown Heights’ 840 Bergen has started listing rental units and is looking ready for move-ins. When we checked in on it a couple months ago, we suspected things were picking up after a two-year freeze. And lo and behold, the scaffolding is now down and Elliman is marketing the rentals. The studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments are asking between $1,650 and $3,350. What do you make of those prices for this area?

  1. BrooklynIsHome, this must be a shill because you and I both know that this location is not near any of those lines except the A/C, and you still have to get across Atlantic.

  2. I love Crown Heights but I think that its way too much for the area even if its new and has amenities like doorman, AC and washer-dryer hookups. However there will be many unsuspecting young people who will believe the realtor when they say the area is Prospect Heights. I am not sure why those same unsuspecting folks would pay up to $3300 for a 2BR in Crown Heights when they could pay the same in Ft Greene, Park Slope or BoCaCa( I hate that term but I am feeling too lazy to type). This neighborhood is great but just doesnt have the density of bars, nightlife and other amenities to command this price. It might in a few years but not yet.

  3. The rentals over there include the apartments located at the former Interfaith/Jewish Hospital site. Short walks to the A and the Franklin Avenue shuttle=>=>2,3,4,5,B and Q.

Located near Franklin and Washington Avenue. Why not?

  4. who decorated this? The curtains tied in a knot look absolutely horific…Who does that???….That’s what tie backs are for.
It’s like looking at an apartment building and seeing windows with curtains tied in a knot, looks completely low class………..

    seriously low class……..

    blech !!!!
