Now, according to an email we received from the building’s broker, the building is approximately 97 percent rented, and all that’s left are six top-floor “premier” apartments (including one remaining two-bedroom penthouse pad with wraparound terrace for $5,850 per month). You can check out photos here. The 365-unit building went on the market about a year ago. So close!

I pass by Avalon, Toren and this 80 DeKalb unit often. The windows on these developments are often smutty. The windows on Oro Condo are horrendous. These people don’t realize they are living in the direct flow of CO2 and exhaust emissions. This cannot be healthy in the long run.
Definitely interested in the retail end, too. I’m expecting one of them to go for something for LIU across the street. But hopefully something else useful for the neighborhood too. Not sure exactly what the spaces were designed for. Beautiful building.
i’m very curious about the retail spaces! any info on what might move in there?
I am a resident at 80 Dekalb. There have been some pretty egregious issues of misrepresentation by the sales department here. They, of course, are denying all of it. But we have organized a group of concerned residents (our first meeting had over 120 people in attendance), sent letters, had a meeting with management(Rose Associates) and ownership (Forest City Ratner), and are continuing to press them to follow through on the promises they made during the sales cycle. The promises had a lot to do with this being a “green” building. They are claiming to have LEED Certification in their ads. It is not LEED Certified. And it is anything but energy efficient, despite claims they are making to the contrary. Frustrating stuff, to say the least, particularly because the rents here are really high and the claims of incredibly low electricity bills enticed the majority of that current 97% of tenants to rent here.
out of all the new buildings that went up, this was the only one we were interested in seeing, and we took a tour the day they opened. it is honestly a really beautiful building, good finishes and amenities. stuff anybody would want — your own washer/dryer, parking, cold storage, new kitchen, big windows, high ceilings. i’m not surprised the building did so well. i hope the developers see the goldmine here and build another one — there is a lot of demand still there.
when i looked, one bedrooms were in the low 2000’s.
We did a lot of moves in this building… Some of the apartments are super nice! no wonder they are almost fully rented.
any word on what’s going on with the ground-level retail spaces?
This building is probably a preview of what the buildings in the “arena block” behind the Barclays Center is going to look like.
Yes this is a very attractive building in a great location and a well done interior – and it was developed by none other than Bruce Ratner.
Just thought that it should be said.
