7 Arlington Place Gone for $500K Over Ask

We are hearing from two tipsters that 7 Arlington Place has sold for $1.8 million all cash. The house was designed in 1887 by George P. Chappell and featured in the movie “Crooklyn.” It was a Building of the Day in October and a House of the Day earlier this week. The ask was $1,300,000. If true, the record would still be held by 254 Gates, which sold earlier this year for $2.2 million, eclipsing Barbara Corcoran’s record-setting purchase of a townhouse in Stuyvesant Heights for $1,460,000 in 2008. But this is certainly a very high price for an unrenovated home. “Bed Stuy is not cheap any more,” said one of our correspondents.

Update: We are hearing from a well-placed source that our story is wrong. The price is incorrect, and the house is not even in contract yet, much less sold. An offer above ask has been accepted and a contract has gone out. Please stay tuned.
