532 Clinton Avenue Is In Fact For Sale
We’ve been curious about the woodframe mansion at 532 Clinton Avenue since we moved into the neighborhood (we wrote about it back in 2006). A few weeks ago we noticed a sign that looked like it was from a realtor but it wasn’t very clear and we couldn’t track down a listing online. So we…
We’ve been curious about the woodframe mansion at 532 Clinton Avenue since we moved into the neighborhood (we wrote about it back in 2006). A few weeks ago we noticed a sign that looked like it was from a realtor but it wasn’t very clear and we couldn’t track down a listing online. So we were excited to get a tip from a reader who had come across a listing for the property. In addition to the 18 (!) bedrooms, the 6,780-square-foot house has side parking and a front lawn. Of course, we were disappointed that there weren’t any interior photos, which always makes us skeptical about what kind of shape the place is in. As for the asking price of $3,500,000, we’ll believe it when we see it. After all, the better-located mansion at 275 Washington Avenue failed to find a buyer last year at its reduced price of $3,200,000.

Why wasn’t this historic house included in the historic district? What a shame. I can’t imagine it is long for this world.
I lived next door to this mansion for 3 yrs…the owners were crazy and neglectful of their property…to the point that there were numerous rat den’s under the porch. I will be happy to see them go.
Is 18 enough, really?
Never mind, The house isn’t 6,780 square feet. The lot is. The house is 3,750 square feet, which makes me wonder how there could be 18 bedrooms. Sadly, since this house is outside the historic district, this is probably besides the point.
A developer could build about 20,000 square feet as of right, so the asking price is clearly not aiming at a loving restorer of old houses.
Well – the listing agent does say that ALL offers will be reviewed. Yeah – this one is for developers…
I don’t think my estimate was included in the average. Does the widget not let one appraise below 2.19 mil?
The owner appears to have spruced up the front a bit, but for years this placed looked really derelict. It’s clear from the listing description that it needs a lot of work, so the price seems outrageous–especially since condo conversions have ground to a halt. It’s a great looking house, though.
why cant they just turn this isnt a CLASSSY SRO and sell individual bedrooms for like 5000 dollars each? why are there no options in nyc like that? there HAS to be a market. HAS to be!

I would think that since the haunted mansion sold for $1.75M (slightly bigger and better location), , it would be a good deal around $1.5M. That’s assuming someone with $2.5M in cash falls in love.
