  1. I guess that I should rephrase to say on a normal demo job.

    HPD using a city licensed demo team, Like Russo’s Wreckers (see brownstoner posts on 18-20 Jackson Ave.) have no application in reg’s to my rant above.

    Still, the point is valid I belive.

  2. This is a perfect example of what I HATE about the “tear them down, build them up” style of new building in Brooklyn.

    While I am a huge proponent of rehab, it’s not for everyone, especially a developer looking to make a fast buck.

    But can we have a little architecturally responsible demo, salvage and reuse?

    I’ll bet that staircase “was” in good condition and could have easily been reused in a rehab.

    Having rescued my share of architectural artifacts from renos and demos, it is SO EASY to do…and by the response to posts on this blog’s forum and craig’s list, very turn-key. And, could be profitable for the right person.
