About a month ago, we discussed an old brick house at 467 Union Street that was being marketed as a tear-down by Corcoran for $650,000. The price cut (from an original $750,000) must have motivated buyers because the listing now says “Sold” and the house has already been reduced to rubble. Comments on the original thread indicated that the old man who most recently lived there co-habitated in rather unsanitary conditions with a dog and/or cats. While neighbors reportedly are not ruing the demise of the structure, they are a little miffed at the smell that the site is now giving off. As the reader who sent along these photos wrote, “Unfortunately, there is no way to email the olfactory pleasures of the rubble.”

  1. Could you “imagine” the “smell” before the DOB “happened” to watch the takedown. It was probably like the old zoo in Prospect Park, BEFORE they unloaded the elephants and whatnot. I hope they put in some food facilities, cause the neighborhood needs more convenient dinner food choices in my humbled apinion.

  2. the DOB permit for demo list HPD as owner.
