LIC-condo

Brick Underground asked the brokerage firm Modern Spaces to break down the personalities of popular neighborhoods in Queens. They tackle Long Island City, Astoria, Sunnyside, Jackson Heights and Ridgewood and even list a few properties on the market in each neighborhood. So what do they say? Long Island City: “the trendiest part of the borough.” Astoria is characterized by its diversity but also “home to a growing number of music venues and hipster bars,” while Sunnyside is a “relatively inexpensive area that appeals to folks looking for relief from the fast-paced city” although it can be hard to find an apartment there. Jackson Heights is known for its Indian culture and “large and reasonably priced co-ops,” Ridgewood is labeled as “up and coming.” The apartments Modern Spaces recommend range from a $1,200,000 condo in LIC (pictured) to a two-bedroom apartment in Ridgewood asking $369,000.

  1. These thumbnails of neighborhoods aren’t bad. I would add that Jackson Heights also has excellent express subway transport options to Manhattan (etc) if you’re close to the Roosevelt Ave stop.
