Mysterious glass tower in LIC

We caught wind of this glass tower that’s supposedly coming to Queens Plaza South in LIC. That means perhaps along the elevated line, but we’ll see. It’s planned to be a 15 story, 415,400 square feet mixed use development. Very little info is available, but we will pass on what we learn as we get it. The building is pretty cool looking and would add a little different geometry to the area. We can’t wait to learn more!

Haiku sign in LIC – we like them

We’ve spotted these haikus in various parts of the city, and liked this one that Body & Soul Restorations posted a photo of. Too bad it’s a little grimy, but hey, that’s city living. Looks like this one is on Jackson Avenue.

Halloween events galore!

We’ve got a great list of events for Halloween this year – since the holiday itself is on a Wednesday night, most of the partying is happening this weekend. And the partying will take many forms – pumpkin chucking to costume contests, movies to fun runs, and beyond. Check it out!

Elizabeth Crowley watches out for Middle Village and Glendale

Nice to see this City Councilwoman working hard for her neighborhood. With the impending hurricane storm Sandy (which could pound the area, but we’re not exactly sure just yet), flooding could be a real problem. Here’s her gumption filled FB statement and her constituents love it.

Hurricane Sandy is predicted to hit New York City early next week. Today I called on the DEP and OEM to thoroughly inspect catch basins and sewer lines throughout Queens to help mitigate flooding. And I will continue pushing DEP to inspect the infrastructure in Middle Village and Glendale and make the necessary improvements to prevent future flooding.

Pachanga Patterson’s got a new Fall menu, full of noms

The new menu at Mexican restaurant Pachanga Patterson in Astoria looks fab. Here are some of the new things on the menu:

  • Salsas – tomato and pumpkin seed; chipotle and delicata squash
  • Small plates – Chihuahua fondu; eggdrop soup with meatball, ancho chilie, and quail egg; steamed mussels with saffron sauce and chips
  • Tacos – beef tongue taco; vegan lentil cake taco with peanut sauce, balsamic vinegar, and pickled onions
  • Entrees – pork chop with white cheese grits and pork jus; braised goat with garlic rice and gremolata

Yum.
