A 23-year-old adventurer from Queens has set off on a Gump-like walk to California, according to North Jersey.com. Residents saw James DiGiovanni pass through the New Jersey town of Butler on Tuesday on his way to San Diego, with a pushcart containing provisions.
“I do a lot of hiking and camping,” he said. “I thought about hiking the Appalachian Trail but that’s been done.”
Camping on the lawns of strangers in a 3,000-plus mile trek across the United States was apparently a logical next step. DiGiovanni will stay outdoors for the majority of his trip, which according to Google, will take approximately 37 days (without sleeping, so double that).
