Marty and David at Ft. Tilden by Victoria Belanger

So there are more than a few places you can look to find things to do this weekend, but Discover Queens is one of the most complete and pleasant to navigate.

Things we like for this weekend include:

Invasion of the Body Snatchers” at the Museum of the Moving Image, actually most things at MOMI look pretty great. There’s another film titled “Kill Daddy Goodnight” and they are showing “Chicken Run” this weekend if you have kids who don’t like gore. Also, if you become a member you can go to all screenings for free.

“Spent” a play at Queens Theatre in the Park (aka QTIP) looks interesting, but you have to spend $25 for tickets.

There’s a strange play at the Secret Theatre called “Diende” about “what it means to be human in an age of rapid technological change.” We’d like to know the answer to that.

Columbia University is hosting their free MFA exhibition at Fisher Landau Center for Art.

And you can barter and join a potluck at the Queens Museum of Art on Sunday.

If you’ve never seen a play with subtitles or in Greek, and think it would be fun, the Greek Cultural Center has a show for you called “In Laws From Tirana”– pretty self-explanatory, except it apparently touches upon corruption in Greek government.

If you didn’t know, the boroughs most “independent” movie theater (aside from MOMI) is Kew Gardens Cinemas. Check it out. There is a Mother’s Day street fair in Astoria and an antique car show at the Queens County Farm Museum but all in all, it’s a pretty chill weekend.

You could just bike ride at Ft. Tilden with Marty and David (pictured above). That’s always a nice thing to do.
