Merry Christmas to those who celebrate! We thought we’d take a cue from the Queens Gazette and post about how to handle that Christmas tree you’ll inevitably be throwing out (unless, of course, your tree is a live tree). Curbside pickup will go from Wednesday, January 2 through Saturday, January 12, and special “tree trucks” will pick up the Christmas trees (along with regular trash pickup) and take them to mulching sites.
MulchFest is a different program, which invites folks to bring their trees to chipping sites, and that will take place on the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, January 12 and 13, 2013, 10am-2pm.
Here are some tips for preparing your tree for curbside pickup:
- Do not wrap or place trees in plastic or plastic bags
- Remove the tree from the tree stand
- Remove all tinsel, ornaments and lights
