$30,000 is available to three Queens-based start-up entrepreneurs ($10,000 will be awarded to each) from the 7th Annual Queens StartUP! Business Plan Competition, a project that comes to us from the Queens Economic Development Corporation. They are able to make this happen, “through funding from Citi Foundation and partnering with Queens Library to provide training sessions at their Central Branch Library.” To enter the competition, enter here.

A few things to keep in mind: you must be 18 years of age or older; you must live in Queens and be a legal resident or US citizen; your business must be based in Queens (registered, owned, and operated here); you business must have less than $20,000 in revenue or still be in the concept stage.

You must also attend four workshops that focus on different aspects of planning a business, to be held between October and January. These workshops are free. Business plans are due March 1, 2013.
