Reinvention is the key to survival for a Bayside parochial school – the NY Daily News reports that the Lutheran School of Flushing & Bayside is transitioning over the next four years from its traditional K-8 model to a school for the gifted and talented (G&T).

The school made the move after flagging interest in Christian education and competition from the neighborhood’s high-quality public schools. It hopes to serve as an option for students who scored high (90%) on the city’s G&T test but were not granted a spot in one of the city’s G&T public schools. The school plans to focus its curriculum on technology and the arts.
