The NY Times reports that Governor Cuomo has announced that 5,000 new temp jobs in storm ravaged areas of NYC will be created. Tasks will including picking up debris and distributing supplies in said areas. Requirements to secure one of these jobs are that one must be 18 years or older; must be unemployed; live in one of the following areas: the five boroughs, Long Island, or in Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster or Westchester Counties. Jobs pay $15/hr.

How are these jobs funded? The Feds:

State officials said that hiring would be focused on young people as well as the long-term unemployed, and that the positions would be financed by a grant of nearly $28 million from the federal government.
