Yes, indeed, another hotel for Long Island City — this 11-story hotel is rising at 39-06 30th Street, off of 38th Avenue. However, construction may be a little held up. We got in touch with Peter Casini Architect, who has these plans for a Hilton Hotel up on his website. He reports that he’s no longer involved with the project; a new owner/developer decided to change the original design rendered on his website. No word whether or not the Hilton chain is still associated with the site. He reports, “As I understand it the current building is not developed in accordance with zoning requirements as it is constructed without proper yards and courts. This matter is currently being reviewed by the DOB Commissioner.” It looks like the building has some DOB violations but nothing that necessarily speaks to zoning troubles. The phone number of the new developer, which is listed on the construction fence, is out of service. The sign on the construction fence also says this will be done by February of next year. If it’s a Hilton, it will join the Hilton Garden Inn, currently under construction near Queens Plaza. This project also joins Crowne Plaza, under construction on Crescent Street, and the Aloft Hotel planned for Jackson Avenue.
