We listen to it. We dance to it. We love it. But we don’t know much about it. Boogie Woogie is a musical genre that has influenced the Blues, Jazz, Swing and Rock & Roll. Basically an African-American style of piano-based blues from Texas, it became popular in the 1930s, although its origins are much earlier. On May 8, The Chain Theatre will kick off a 17-show run of Boogie Stomp!, which tells the story of this vibrant music, its artists and its audiences with help from two of the country’s best current piano performers Boogie Bob” Baldori and Arthur Migliazza.

Details: Boogie Stomp!, The Chain Theatre, 21-28 45th Road, Long Island City, May 8th through May 31st, Tuesday through Saturday at 8 pm, with matinees on Sunday at 3 pm, $45.
