Rooftops in Long Island City are pretty at Ravel and Hotel Z
For years we drove past Ravel Hotel, always wondering what was happening on the roof. One day, we decided to investigate. Apparently, it’s all the awesomeness we imagined. Apparently, it’s all the awesomeness we imagined. Located at 8-08 Queens Plaza South, this place is perfect for fancy time, but the prices are reasonable. On a Saturday afternoon, there was plenty of room on the hotel’s roof for a party.
Fancy time continued in the hotel lobby, where they have electronic wine dispensers. Anyone who hasn’t seen these before will be impressed.
The decor was vaguely like that of The Standard in Los Angeles, but alas there were some hideous art choices on the walls. We will let you go discover those for yourself.
The menu was very Queensy, with Bahn Mi and other sorts of Asian-inspired delicacies, and of course, they have burgers (for the less adventurous).
After we finished at Ravel, we decided to follow our ears to the booming party at another nearby rooftop hotel- yes there are two within walking distance. Welcome to Hotel Z located at 11-01 43rd Ave. Word on the street is that this place is better for guests. It’s a larger and newer hotel where the music doesn’t stop ever (according to local residents).
The rooftop was higher than Ravel’s and there was pretty big party going on.
Nice views
and we love heat lamps.
Overall, if you are looking to have a more low-key adventure with a loved one, we recommend Ravel. If a firm beat is what you crave, Hotel Z’s got you covered.
