In a recent mailing from Green Shores, they included an update on the Queens East River & North Shore Greenway, beyond the current construction in Astoria Park that we wrote about earlier this week. Parts of the Greenway that go through Rainey Park, the Astoria Houses Esplanade, Shore Boulevard and Ralph DeMarco Park, are under construction. Rainey Park itself is still closed, too, due to the construction.

A couple of photos were shared in the mailing, including one of these round bike racks on the north side of the park.

Here’s a paved waterfront esplanade at Rainey, too.

It is unclear when exactly the park will re-open, and it is unclear when the pre-construction and construction will be done along Shore Boulevard.

When the Greenway is finished, it will connect LIC (including Hunters Point and Ravenswood) with Astoria all along the northern parts of the neighborhood to East Elmhurst and Jackson Heights. All four parks on the East River – Queensbridge, Rainey, Socrates Sculpture Park, and Astoria Park – will be connected, too. Segment 1 of the Greenway, stretching from Newtown Creek to the Queensborough Bridge, has already been completed.
