Helen Ho, who is a proud cyclist, Development Director at Recycle-A-Bicycle (a great organization with a warehouse and job training center in LIC), and overall enthusiastic Astorian, recently sent us their love letter to M. Wells about their jerky granola bars – not only are they delicious with “drool inducing smells” but there is a fundraising element that benefits Recycle-A-Bicycle directly. Check it out and help them out if you can!

How much do we love M. Wells?  Let us count the ways.

(1) M. Wells makes delicious food, capable of attracting gourmands from distant boroughs to Queens.

(2) Since re-opening their restaurant in the food concession at MoMA PS1 in Long Island City, the first floor of the old schoolhouse turned museum is filled with drool inducing smells. (Seriously.)

(3) M. Wells is introducing a new product and turning it into a fundraiser for Recycle-A-Bicycle for the month of February.  It’s the Jerky Granola Bar, good to grab to go as a hearty snack for later or sit down and try the Jerky Granola Bar in the restaurant along with all of M. Wells’ good eats. The Jerky Granola Bars are $5 and filled with nuts, oats, beef jerky, maple syrup and dried fruits. Yum!

50% of the sale of each Jerky Granola Bar in the month of February will go towards sustaining Recycle-A-Bicycle’s work with the Greening Western Queens Initiative. That includes bike shop programming at five schools, Kids Bike Swaps, a Green Spokes Ride Club, and free public programming for the community.

So, what are you waiting for?  Grab your sweetheart, your friends, your dad and your grandma and go stockpile Jerky Granola Bars for that next snowstorm!

M. Wells is located inside MoMA PS1 at 22-25 Jackson Ave, Long Island City (GMAP). Museum admission not required for entry to restaurant. Check here for restaurant hours.
