The rundown, shuttered playground on the corner of 5th Street and 48th Avenue, in Long Island City, is getting a revamp. LIC Post reports that the Parks Department budgeted $150,000 for repairs to the playground, which closed down after the city deemed it unsafe. Work will take around 18 months and the hope is that the space reopens by the end of 2015. Plans to refurbish the basketball courts here won’t happen until a later date.
