City Councilman Daniel Dromm plans to allocate $500,000 to improve Diversity Plaza in Jackson Heights, DNAinfo reports. This money is on top of $2,000,000 earmarked by the Department of Transportation for even more improvements to the location, on 37th Road between 73rd and 74th Streets. Council Member Dromm’s funds will go toward more seating, better lighting and maps. As for the changes implemented by DOT, residents will have an opportunity to discuss and vote on what they’d like to see at a meeting later this fall. The plaza, installed by the DOT in 2011, is currently temporary but is making the transition into a permanent pedestrian space.
