This is always a happy story each year, about first babies of the new year in various communities, and the first babies born in NYC were in Queens! Baby girl Olivia Espinal was born at midnight on 1/1/13 at New York Hospital Queens in Flushing (GMAP).

She weighed 7 lbs, 5 oz and is cute as a bug! Her due date was actually January 4, but everyone is thrilled that she arrived on New Year’s Day. Congratulations, Espinal family!

We also learned from NY1 that Kaylee Sayuri Merino was born at midnight at Elmhurst Hospital Center. Apparently the mother, Rosalba Merino “saw the ball drop in Times Square at the moment of delivery.” Kaylee weighed 6 lbs, 11 oz (photo here). Congratulations to the Merino family, too!
