Queensborough bridge

City Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. is drafting legislation that would remove former Mayor Edward Koch’s name from what used to be the Queensboro Bridge. The bridge, built in 1909, was named after Koch in 2011 to celebrate the former mayor’s 86th birthday. At the time Vallone objected to the change and helped to circulate a petition critical of the plan. He later tried and failed to pass legislation that would prohibit the city from naming landmarks after living people. Vallone told the New York Post “Never in a million years would they think to rename the Brooklyn or Manhattan bridges. But for some reason, it was OK to slap Queens around.” What do you think? Should the bridge revert to its original name, or do you like the ring of its current mouthful — the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge?
