Tonight! CB1 in Astoria votes on the Newtown pedestrian plaza

We’ve been following this story about the proposed pedestrian plaza at Newtown and 30th Aves since the start, and visited it during the one day pop-up plaza last month. DOT collected opinions via a survey there at the site, and have been listening to various stakeholders both for and against, over the past few weeks. Now it’s time for Community Board 1 to vote on it.

Residents and concerned parties will get a chance to voice their opinions in front of the Community Board, too. First, DOT will make a presentation; then people will have a chance to comment; and then the Community Board will make a decision about the issue.

All this will happen at the Community Board 1 meeting on Tuesday, September 11 starting at 7pm. The meeting takes place at the Astoria World Manor, 25-22 Astoria Boulevard in Astoria (GMAP).
