The other night we spent a leisurely dinner at Basil Brick Oven Pizza, one of Astoria’s three legit Neapolitan-style pizza spots (the other two include Tufino and Via Trenta). We were delighted to share the meal with our organizer, Bradley (BORO, Amuse * Bouche), Judith (Fooditka, We Heart Astoria), Sue (tastoriaqueens), Anne (City Spoonful), Elena (The Gotham Palate), Jeff (Queens Quostodian), and Mackenzi (We Heart Astoria).

The food was plentiful and delicious, and unfortunately we had to leave before the meats and pizza was served, but we did taste plenty of other things, including risottos, salad, fried calamari, and lobster ravioli, among other things. We loved this lasagna-esque item that was made with potatoes in place of pasta. It had a delicious layer of cheese on top with pesto inside, and a tricolore set of sauces. It was irresistible.

Another winner was this octopus carpaccio. LOVE!

They rolled the beast together tight, then sliced it thinly. Brilliant and so delicious.
