Slightly under-the-radar pizzeria and Italian restaurant Forno Italia in Astoria are in the middle of some changes. According to a tweet by Adam Kuban, they are under new management and doing some renovations. According to the DOB, they are also going to replace the storefront.

Here’s what the restaurant looked like before:

Lots of red and faux distressing.

The pizzas are tasty.

Brick oven pizza has really become popular in Astoria – there’s Basil Brick Oven Pizza whose popularity grew so quickly they expanded into space at least twice the original size and added a little cafe. Via Trenta (GMAP) is still going strong and making excellent pizza. Tufino Napoletana Pizzeria is poised to open, too – Hurricane Sandy delayed them a bit, but they hope to be up and running very soon.
