Breaking Bad is an AMC television series about Walter White, a mild-mannered high school chemistry teacher who turns to crime after being diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer. Aiming to secure his family’s financial stability after his imminent death, this main character gets into the crystal meth racket while becoming increasingly amoral and ruthless. Since its premiere in January 2008, the highly acclaimed drama has won seven Emmy Awards among other prestigious honors. On July 28 at the Museum of the Moving Image, Vince Gilligan — Breaking Bad‘s creator, producer and frequent writer and director — will discuss the show and White’s evolution. Gilligan’s appearance highlights From Mr. Chips to Scarface: Walter White’s Transformation in Breaking Bad, an exhibit (July 26-Oct. 27) featuring costumes, props, selected clips and behind-the-scenes footage.
