On April 3rd, “Spectacle,” a two month exhibition at The Museum of Moving Image opens, exploring the connection between music and video, reports DNAinfo. The installations will not only celebrate iconic music videos of the MTV era, but also the early developments of sound and film, from the Vitaphone on. The exhibit seeks to reveal the impact music videos have had on contemporary culture, as well as showcase the work of innovative directors. Included in the exhibition are original drawings and props from videos like A-Ha’s “Take on Me” and Smashing Pumpkins’ “Tonight, Tonight.” The exhibit will be in tandem with a film series and workshops.
“Spectacle” will be on exhibit from April 3 to June 16 at the Museum of the Moving Image (36-01 35th Avenue) in Astoria.
