In 2005, Valerie Green established a permanent home for Dance Entropy in an 1,800-square-foot LIC studio called “Green Space.” The word “entropy” refers to the tendency towards disorder in a social system and chaos in motion, but this über-talented group is always smooth. Green, who has created 25 dances and six other long works over a 17-year career in NYC, has produced a platform for multi-cultural understanding through dance by nurturing the link between creation and education, building a community of artists and connecting them to the neighborhood. From February 21 through February 24, Dance Entropy will celebrate an anniversary with the world premiere of Skimming the Surface: Fragments of Collective Unconscious. Inspired by emotional wounds, four dancers will dazzle and delight in a work that centers around a rather active table and 24 knives.
